1s in close game; 4s bow out of the cup

Updated: Feb 9, 2019

The 1st XV were unlucky at home against table topping Hartpury, narrowly losing 20-7. Will Verdan was a standout performer yet again, continuing his try-scoring exploits, whilst it was good to see the return of Ollie Lyons and Hugh Summerhayes to the matchday squad, despite the result.

Meanwhile, the 4th XV were knocked out of the cup by rivals Exeter, 30-12. Playing against a well-drilled, skilful side, the 4ths put on perhaps their best display of the season, with MOTM Sam Hopkinson managing the team from scrum-half well despite the adverse weather conditions.

Focus turns next week to the annual Wednesday Night Lights event, which sees a double header against Swansea, with both the 1sts and 2nds in action against the Welsh side. The 3rds and 4ths are both away, to Exeter and Hartpury respectively.
