The 1st XV have made the final of the BUCS Vase, where they will face Hartpury 2s on the 27th March in Nottingham. Having beaten Newcastle 1sts last week away 21-7, they took on league rivals Swansea 1s under the floodlights in front of a large Dingle crowd.
With over 500 tickets sold, the atmosphere was electric, and saw Bristol get off to a fast start with an early try for Rhodri Skyrme after great hands from Pat Hagerty and Hugh Erritt. Unfortunately, Swansea's backline was firing early on and at half time, Bristol were 12-10 down.
Cue the second half, and Bristol were superb, with tries from Blake Edwards, Ewan Evans and Ollie Bluck putting Bristol out of sight by 60 minutes. A late Swansea consolation try meant pulses rose briefly, before a penalty from Will Sharp put Bristol into a commanding 34-19 lead, and which was ultimately one they wouldn't relinquish.
The cup final is on the 27th March at the University of Nottingham - more details to follow shortly, but there will be arrangements made to organise supporters' buses from Bristol to Nottingham for the game. Stay tuned!
